When Bob Aimes and his partner opened their first store in downtown Chilliwack in 1973, he was driven by a passion for sports and for his community.
Though much has changed since then—including the size and location of the store—Bob’s passion has carried on through his son Geoff and business partner Brian Gillespie.
“Dad would pick kids up to drive them to practices, and give gear to those who couldn’t afford it”, Geoff recalls fondly.
Geoff and Brian try to offer the same support for minor sports athletes and teams in Chilliwack and the neighbouring area as Bob did, sponsoring teams, tournaments, and individual athletes.
They also bring their own and their team’s personal passion for sports to work at Cheam. Carrying products best suited to Chilliwack and its surrounding area, the team at Cheam Source for Sports is knowledgeable about the equipment they carry because they play the sports themselves.
“We sent one of our employees to do a mountain season to demo equipment,” says Brian. “We used his input to inform our buying.”
That level of service extends to all areas of the store at 9077 Young Rd., from skate sharpening (where there are a combined 50 years of skate sharpening experience among Cheam employees) and hockey to alpine skiing and snowboarding, baseball, football, inline skating, lacrosse, soccer, and more.
Combined with an extensive women’s and men’s apparel section with functional and lifestyle clothing, Cheam really is your Source for Sports.
